Further Court Closures Proposed

The Ministry of Justice has proposed the closure of 8 further court buildings, including 2 County Court locations in Wandsworth and Banbury.

In relation to the County Court at Wandsworth, there are two suggestions for the reallocation of the Court’s work: either the entirety of the workload would be absorbed by the County Court at Kingston upon Thames or the majority of matters could be directed to the County Court at Clerkenwell & Shoreditch, with housing possession matters listed between the County Court at Kingston upon Thames and Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court.

Civil hearings currently heard in Banbury would be reallocated to the County Court at Oxford under the proposals.

The consultation closes on 29 March 2018.
