It has been announced that, from June 2017, the specialist Civil Courts will become the “Business and Property Courts of England and Wales”. The Courts to be included in the Business and Property Courts are the Commercial Court (including the Admiralty and Mercantile Court), Technology and Construction Court and the Courts of the Chancery Division.

Although the existing practices and procedures of these Courts will remain, the new arrangement will allow greater flexibility for cross deployment of Judges with suitable experience to try individual cases.

As well as sitting in London, the Business and Property Courts will sit in Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol and Cardiff, with plans to also sit in Newcastle and Liverpool in future.
