Continuing Professional Assessment
Hearings are categorised into stages according to their complexity and advocates must pass our rigorous assessments before moving on to each stage.
Stage 1
Having passed the Assessment Centre advocates shadow an experienced advocate at court and visit our offices to attend seminars and workshops on good practice and case management.
Stage 2
Advocates are only permitted to attend these hearings once their performance at court is formally assessed and they have passed a further knowledge based written exercise.
Stage 3
Before moving on to more complex matters advocates must take part in further practical based assessments, to demonstrate that they have the required knowledge and skills.
Advocates are subject to ongoing assessment consisting of regular audits including shadowing at court by a member of the solicitor team.
