Stage One Induction

New advocates will attend court with an experienced LPC advocate before attending an induction day. The advocates are provided with a set of materials including the LPC Guide to Civil Court Hearings and the Pre-Action Protocol, a selection of statute and case law and feedback on their performance at the assessment centre.

During the induction day seminars are presented on good practice and case management; court orders; client care and confidentiality; costs; case preparation; and citation of authorities. Practical exercises are conducted to develop advocates’ negotiation and conferencing skills.

In addition to this advocates’ first briefs are carefully selected and advocates attend a workshop, during which the finer points of their brief are examined with their assistant advocacy manager. Advocates are advised on how to deal with any potential problems and assisted in the preparation of their bundles and development of submissions.
