Michael J. Trevelyan
LLB (Hons), BVC graduate. Joined LPC in November 2008, Midland Circuit.

I have learnt a great deal
about the reality of being a
lawyer and it is very different
from what they teach on the
BVC! I have learnt to analyse
information quickly and
create submissions, which
are accurate and concise. I
have also learnt a great deal
about forming professional
relationships with clients and
have been able to develop
my inter-personal skills to
a great degree.
I have had lots of good
experiences so far but the
best is knowing that I have
changed a Judge’s mind
and been really persuasive
by preparing my case
thoroughly. It is a great feeling
to think that I have really
made a difference in court.
LPC’s assessment centre
enabled me to make the
transition between the study
of law and being in practice
much more easily. Although
it seems like a lot of work at
the time, it is invaluable to
have this knowledge when
you need it most!
LPC values hard work,
dedication and an ability
to work independently. Any
candidate who is prepared to
get immersed in the reality of
legal practice will do well
at LPC and will find that they
have been given a fantastic
opportunity to develop as real
lawyers, rather than students
of the law.
